How are you using media technologies in the construction stage of ancillary product 2?
I will be using technologies such as the use of pixlr.com to change different shades of images. Reasons being is because some of the effects pixlr have will go perfect with matching the main poster background which is good for matching.
In what ways will your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Using pixlr.com to will help us use the conventions and same / similar style of photography used in the professional world and real working environment. The better quality I enhance my pictures to be by playing around with them and being creative, the more professional and realisitic my ancillary task will look which will complete and fulfill the expectations I have reached for myself to make it look like an existing production.
I will challenge forms and conventions of a real media product by making my colours bright and bold which I rarely see in magazines. I felt that especially due to the fact my magazine was of a particular comedy themed issue, the colours should be more viabrant and out-there than ever. Looking at other film magazine comedy issues, the colours seem to be dulled down a lot and I felt that this is what washed down the idea of what comedy represented.
What have you learned from your audience feedback?
The audience are engaged by what is the most fascinating and original piece of media text to look at, they wanted in-your-face images that grabbed their attention immediately. Once hearing this from my target audience I felt that I was going towards the right route in engaging my particular range of audience.
How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
My main product and ancillary texts are consistent through house style, font, colour, logo, and character names. Also, mise-en-scene is consistent and the actors are playing their character roles in all products. This is so that the audience can gather a sense of familiarity when viewing these products one after the other during advertising.

Week 17
How are you using media technologies in the research and planning stage of ancillary product 2?
For the creation of my ancillary product 2, I will be using both photoshop and indesign, I may also be using Paint software to quickly transport small images but this will be rarely used.
In what ways will your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
The two main posters below was my favourite posters for the genre I was going for. The main reasons being because they were both targetted at an audience similar to my own.
On the other hand, a way that my product is different from all the rest is that it challenges the gender stereotypes, usually it would be that the male is the more dominant and funny one in comedy whereas in my product there are just strictly females showing the funny yet feminine side of young women. This doesn't however mean that my product is just targetted at young women as young men will like to see the appearance of women (Berger & Butler).
What have you learned from your audience feedback?
When showing my audience the two posters I had researched they said they liked the idea and particularly thought that the second poster would be more appropriate for my ancillary task as the colours are bright and the photos are comical which was exactly what I was going for. The cartoon style was what I also wanted to encorporate as my own.

Creating my poster - this is the layout of my main poster:
This being the start of the creation of my first draft ancillary 2, I was still yet to add the pictures. However, I found that I liked the layout, colours, cartoon effect and fonts used. My target audience, who were also media students, were impressed by my creations and couldn't wait to see the final product.

WEEK 16 – (submit draft of ancillary 1; update presentation; transfer to http://www.blogger.com/)
In what ways will your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
PREMIERE:
What have you learned from your audience feedback?
Second draft:
For my second draft, I changed pictures completely as I felt the previous image didn't match the comical feel. I also gave my magazine a new title. The only thing I kept was the style and colours as they were loud and viabrant, also matching with my main product and ancillary task 2 to be.
How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
Now that I have changed my magazine, it appears a lot more like my main product and looks more like what I was going for. The picture is comical which ties down the genre immediately when my audience first glimpse at it.

This was the first draft of my film magazine advertising SWOP:
This being my first draft film magazine I felt that I didn't fufill the best of my ability. However, getting feedback from my audience and teachers helped me to come up with something better for my second draft.
Like seen on the model film magazine that I researched, I added the film magazine strip as I felt this gave the magazine more of a film look. I thought I would take a picture of the actor out of character to make the magazine more personal to the character. What I failed to notice however was that my target audience being young will not be interested in the personal characters life but will be much more interested in what the film is about and the comedy behind it.
I felt like I was roughly getting a better idea of what I was suppost to be going for and my audience agreeing with me, I continued to strive for a better magazine front cover to appeal to my target audience.
How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
All of the three products have the same characteristics, they are loud in colour, viabrant, expressive, eye-catching and are all targetting young adults. This is important that all of the same characteristics are encorporated into each product to keep to the same styles.

What have you learned from your audience feedback?
When showing this picture to a couple of other media students, they liked the film strip and the great effect it had on identifying what type of genre this magazine belonged to.
They also noticed that in most film magazines effects are used the majority of the time to give the front cover an edgy more verisimilitude effect.

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
The task that my ancillary texts will hopefully successfully achieve is to grab my target audience and bring their attention to the main product (teaser trailer). Both will be very effective keeping in mind that both are overt techniques of advertising.
Both will link to the comical teenage genre that I am going for and should be similar in each and every product. If I keep the same housestyle, characters and colours my target audience will gradually become more and more familiar with the film I am tring to successfully sell.

Week 13
WEEK 13 (pre-production of ancillary 1; presentations of draft main task)
How are you using media technologies in the planning/construction stage of your ancillary product?
Most of the technologies I used involved online networking and ICT in general. Using websites such as Google Images helped me to look at the different types of magazines that are real, existing and on the market, e.g. Empire. YouTube helped me to view some tutorials to help strengthen my skills on Photoshop which was my part of the job during the production of the magazine whilst my team mate helped produce the actual layout of the magazine on InDesign. I felt that because I had to be creative in my role, I had to use a vast majority of creative software and online sites such as:
Pixlr, Paint and Photoshop:
http://www.pixlr.com/ is a quicker alternative to changing colours and designs of photos. We needed this quite frequently as we wanted the different photos on our magazine to appear like polaroid pictures scattered along the page. This website allowed us to change our photos and edit them to make them appear more realistic.
The first part of our production was created from Photoshop where the images and effects were placed. Photoshop made it easier to layout our pictures and designs the way we wanted them to come up with our complex and well planned front cover.
If there were certain designs we wanted, we would take them from Google Images and paste it onto paint modifying the shape. Paint software was good for detecting any pixelation in the photo, and if there was, we would disregard the photo and replace it with a better quality effect.
In what ways will your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
In order to get a better understanding of the film magazines that are really out in the market, I researched the many different film magazines like: Total Film, Empire, American film and Premiere.

What have you learned from your audience feedback?
From my audience feedback after asking them what they expected from a magazine representing a comedy trailer for teenagers, a lot of my target audience expected colourful font and grafitti styles with bright and comical pictures.
After my target audience watched my trailer they expected some comical props to be used during the photoshoot e.g. handcuffs and also expected the characters to be in their role.
