Week 17

How are you using media technologies in the research and planning stage of ancillary product 2?

For the creation of my ancillary product 2, I will be using both photoshop and indesign, I may also be using Paint software to quickly transport small images but this will be rarely used.

In what ways will your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

The two main posters below was my favourite posters for the genre I was going for. The main reasons being because they were both targetted at an audience similar to my own.

On the other hand, a way that my product is different from all the rest is that it challenges the gender stereotypes, usually it would be that the male is the more dominant and funny one in comedy whereas in my product there are just strictly females showing the funny yet feminine side of young women. This doesn't however mean that my product is just targetted at young women as young men will like to see the appearance of women (Berger & Butler).

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

When showing my audience the two posters I had researched they  said they liked the idea and particularly thought that the second poster would be more appropriate for my ancillary task as the colours are bright and the photos are comical which was exactly what I was going for. The cartoon style was what I also wanted to encorporate as my own.

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Creating my poster - this is the layout of my main poster:

This being the start of the creation of my first draft ancillary 2, I was still yet to add the pictures. However, I found that I liked the layout, colours, cartoon effect and fonts used. My target audience, who were also media students, were impressed by my creations and couldn't wait to see the final product.
